Complete required details on the Avero Test Requisition Form.

Pack the 5 slides into a microscope slide box.

  • Add bubble wrap if necessary to restrict movement of the slides within the box.

Pack the microscope slide box into a secondary box or padded envelope.

  • Add bubble wrap if necessary to restrict movement of the microscope slide box.

Include a printed copy of the patient’s histopathology report and the completed Avero Test Requisition Form.

COLLECTION

  1. Select a sample that has a central representative section through the melanoma, with the margins included.

  2. The sample should include intact epidermis, because the test is based on immunostaining of the epidermis, not the melanoma itself.

  3. Using a standard microtome, cut 4μm sections and mount onto charged, air dried, unclipped slides.

    • Write the cutting date and unique sample/block identifier code on the slide

  4. Dry slides overnight at 37°C and then store at room temperature in a microscope slide box.

    • Avoid condensation on the slides.
